How to Tweak Ubuntu
Ubuntu Tweak is a software utility that allows you to easily modify system settings, software repositories, start-up software, interface elements and more through an intuitive graphical interface. With Ubuntu Tweak installed, you can quickly customize the open source Ubuntu operating system to suit your needs. The software gives you access to numerous system settings that are not readily available through the standard configuration tools included with Ubuntu.

- 1 Click "Applications" and select "Accessories," then "Terminal."
- 2 Type "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa" and then press "Enter." Type your Ubuntu password to authorize your system to install software from the Ubuntu Tweak repository.

- 3 Type "sudo apt-get update && apt-get install ubuntu-tweak" and then press "Enter." Type your Ubuntu password to authorize installation. The software will be installed in a matter of moments.
- 4 Click "Applications" and select "System Tools," then "Ubuntu Tweak."
- 5 Select menu options in the "Applications" section to install third-party software, add new software repositories and clean old packages from your system.
- 6 Select menu options in the "Startup" section to select the applications that launch on system start, configure the login window and select default session applications.
- 7 Select menu options in the "Desktop" section to change settings including selecting desktop effects, hotspot corner actions and menu effects. Other options that can be changed include adjusting the GNOME panel and menu settings, selecting icons that appear on the desktop, a desktop recovery tool and window manager options.
- 8 Select menu options in the "Personal" section to change the location of default folders, manage Nautilus scripts, configure document templates and set system-wide keyboard shortcuts.
- 9 Select menu options in the "System" section to view computer details, change the default application for various file types, configure power settings and adjust security preferences.
- 10 Click "Quit" when you have completed tweaking Ubuntu. All changes you make using Ubuntu Tweak will be saved to your system automatically.
